Inspiration:
One afternoon, while visiting Bastien and his family in France, all I wanted was a little picnic with Bastien. I didn't want to go out to eat, I didn't want to see another Abbey or another wine maker or another statue....I just wanted to enjoy my sweet husband in the shade of the afternoon. I love a grand gesture, but I adore a small one so much more. I'd trade in a thousand dates for one real conversation where hearts undress and rest and get to really know one another. Life moves quickly, and we don't know how long we get with those we love and adore. We can move through it quickly and loudly and excitedly, or we can sit and rest in the shade under the trees and learn one another in stillness and embarrassment and awkwardness- every real, quirky little thing, and realize just how deep love can run when it sits still.
Details:
This is a 30x30" mixed media painting of acrylic, oil, oil stick, and pencil on 1.5" gallery wrapped, cotton canvas. All of the edges have been painted a neutral color, and the piece has two layers of Gamvar varnish, protecting it from UV light, dust, and every day life. For ongoing care, the painting may be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle soap as needed.
