I'M RIGHT WHERE I BELONG- 24x30"

Inspiration:

There were several years (okay, maybe an almost decade) where I felt like a log floating aimlessly down a river. So much about losing my first marriage felt like getting totally "off track" from where I was really supposed to be, as if my whole future and all of the potential I was supposed to reach one day had been totally wiped out. It felt like I would always live some alternative or detour life that could never be as good as the one I was "supposed" to be living. And then I learned to garden, and paint, and raised Henry, and bought our first home, and met Bastien, and I realized that I was always right where I belonged, and that there was never some alternative, "better" life I was meant for because that crazy river knew where to carry me all along.  "I'm Right Where I Belong" is something like that book title, "Wherever You Go, There You Are," but rather than "there you are," it's "there you belong." 

Details: 

This is a 24x30" mixed media painting of acrylic, oil, oil stick, and pencil on 1.5" gallery wrapped, cotton canvas.  All of the edges have been painted a neutral color, and the piece has two layers of Gamvar varnish, protecting it from UV light, dust, and every day life. For ongoing care, the painting may be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle soap as needed.
