Inspiration:
I painted this related to a memory of visiting a wilderness park somewhere in the South of France with Bastien. We walked past this small inlet of blue and green, and I took a picture. He wanted to keep waking, but I wanted to hold his hand and stay and watch the water. So we stayed a moment, and I made a memory. It’s easy to bustle through moments because it’s hot, or it’s been a long day, or we’re tired. We live in this fast forward world of instant gratification to the point that we sometimes miss the moments we are in. We take a photo and press on, but what if we stay, and soak something up into our hearts? What if we stop, and watch the waves roll in?
Details:
This is a 30x30" mixed media painting of acrylic, oil, oil stick, and pencil on 1.5" gallery wrapped, cotton canvas. All of the edges have been painted a neutral color, and the piece has two layers of Gamvar varnish, protecting it from UV light, dust, and every day life. For ongoing care, the painting may be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle soap as needed.
