MANGO SORBET ON THE BOARDWALK- 36x48"

Inspiration:

My husband, his family, my mom, niece and I all went to the Mediterranean for the day- to Narbonne beach. My husband and I had eloped in my hometown just 6 months prior, and I was often busy with worry of the day I would fly back and leave him, and how it would feel to do life separate from him for another 4 months. In the middle of these back and forward feelings, we stopped on the boardwalk for ice-cream and sorbet.  It’s tempting to lament all the “could have, would have, should have beens,” but what life has taught me is there’s no life in regret or in a memory. There’s today, and mango sorbet, and the life we have in the moment.  So I soaked up the day, held my husband’s hand, and carried that little, big moment through the week, and later- through months- until we were together again.  Sometimes we miss the moment, too worried about the future, or fiddling with our phones, or hating our present circumstances and it makes everything different... not because life is any less lovely or any less of a gift, but because we may not take the time to open it

 “Mango Sorbet on the Boardwalk” is a lovely reminder that every “little” moment can be a struggle or a teacher, a boring stretch or a pause, a painful longing or a pleasant anticipation, a tick on a box or a precious memory. We always have the choice to be present and to hold on, and yes, that's what I choose. 

Details: 

This is a 36x48" mixed media painting of acrylic, oil, oil stick, and pencil on 1.5" gallery wrapped, cotton canvas.  All of the edges have been painted a neutral color, and the piece has two layers of Gamvar varnish, protecting it from UV light, dust, and every day life. For ongoing care, the painting may be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle soap as needed.

I currently ship standard to the continental US only.  Each painting is shipped out of my studio in Birmingham, AL within 2 weeks of the order date.
