Blooming

Inspiration:

Have you ever gone through a difficult life season and felt wilted after? Like you've lost something, some spark, in your spirit? One of my favorite places we visit when in Ouveillan is Fontfoide Abbey- a former monastery built in the hills of Occitanie. The archways are gorgeous (and inspired the composition of many of this collection's pieces), but the diamond of the Abbey is its gardens- lavendar, roses, sage, salvia- with rows of pebbled paths winding around and between them. Walking there, in the shade of the trees and vines and stone, in a new season that was filled with joy and peace, I felt parts of myself waking up- blooming- for the first time in a long time. It's easy to want to pick a flower when it's just starting to open up, believing it couldn't get any more beautiful, and in the same way, we often underestimate the potential of the blooms in our own lives... But give them time, and we are often surprised by the magnificent of the full bloom. 

Details: 

This is a 6x8" acrylic painting on 200 GSM handmade cotton paper with deckled edges. While the piece comes unmated and unframed, it is gorgeous in either a floater frame or matted and framed with deckled edges showing.
