WALK WITH ME IN THE VINEYARDS- 24x30"

Inspiration:

There's always a million things to do or a million places to see when I visit Ouveillan, but it's the same when I'm home in Birmingham. Always something "out there." I often daydream about traveling to some other place, to other people, with other food, reducing my present to "ordinary" or "monotonous" or "same old same." Familiarity breeds contempt is how the saying goes, but familiarity can also breed a depth of knowing and intimacy that shifts our lives from being "ordinary" to "extraordinary." This is the vineyard behind Bastien's family home. Familiar, ordinary, and extraordinary- deeply personal and intimate as we've walked it over and over, allowing it to become more and more part of the familiar and lovely landscape of our lives. "Walk With Me In The Vineyard" could equally say, "sit with me again on the couch," or "snuggle me again before you leave." It's coming back to the familiar parts of life over and over and over again, each time with more joy and more gratitude that we have them. 

Details: 

This is a 24x30" mixed media painting of acrylic, oil, oil stick, and pencil on 1.5" gallery wrapped, cotton canvamaking them intos.  All of the edges have been painted a neutral color, and the piece has two layers of Gamvar varnish, protecting it from UV light, dust, and every day life. For ongoing care, the painting may be cleaned with a damp cloth and gentle soap as needed.
